40 yrs old co op hsg society in Kolkata, always issued Receipts for qtrly maintenance charges within 4/5 days of handing over of cheques. Now, new managing committee says that Receipt will be issued only after monthly bank statement is received in the next month and thereafter reconciliation of same by part time Accountant. So, for a cheque cleared on March 02,Receipt is issued on April 23 ie after 50 days.Till then no confirmation to member that his payment is received by society. Also they do not acknowledge Receipt of cheque on its photo copy.Is the delay acceptable? What is the remedy? Which authority should be approached for quicker resolution- Registrar of co op OR consumer court? Thanks in anticipation of kind advice.
Dear Mr Satya, Kindly make a complaint against nee managing Committee of your Co-operative Housing Society to the Registrar of Co-operative Housing Society, for not issuing you a Society's receipt immediately receiving your crossed cheque in the name of the Society, for Society dues by a crossed cheque in the name of the society. When yoou make a payment by a crossed cheque, Society receipt says, "Receipt is subject to realisation of cheque in the Bank Account of the Society" therefore, Society should issue a receipt immediately after receipt of the cheque by the Society,
