| Dr Prakash & Dr Mandakini Amte are social workers who are well known for their philanthropic work in the the tribal areas of Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. For their work, they were awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for 'Community Leadership' in 2008. Their life's work, the Lok Biradari Prakalp has now been transformed into a hospital, a residential school and an orphanage for injured wild animals. The famous biographical film Dr Prakash Baba Amte : The Real Hero is based on their life story. |
