Dear Mr. Hussain – In the first place, if you were aware that the lender does not have required permission from RBI, you should not have availed the same. What documents did you sign, particularly loan agreement? You have to first raise this issue with the lender over mail or if address is available, then by sending a letter. If their response is not satisfactory, you have to immediately report to RBI with a request to take action. Please do not be in hurry to pay-off the loan unless you gather proper information. Since the lender is unregistered, you have to immediately take up the matter with the RBI by lodging a complaint on its Complaint Management System (CMS) portal, namely, https://cms.rbi.org.in/cms/indexpage.html#eng, or call 14440 or 14448.
