The “@” symbol was found on most typewriters, and it was probably the most underused key. But Ray Tomlinson, who helped create the world's very first email system, was faced with the problem that emails could only be sent to users on the same server. He adopted "@" to allow cross-server email routing, via an email address, elevating this key to the defining symbol of the computer age.
eRecyclingCorps is planning to set up phone trade-in schemes for operators to encourage consumers to return old phones to carriers. It expects to achieve profit margins of about 35% on recycling and refurbishing phones that are traded in.
