TCS Orders Independent Probe into Nashik Unit Allegations; Engages Deloitte, Trilegal

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) has ordered an independent investigation into allegations linked to its Nashik facility, appointing external experts and setting up a board-level oversight mechanism to ensure credibility and transparency in the process.

In a statement issued, chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director (MD) K Krithivasan said the company has engaged teams from Deloitte and law firm Trilegal as independent counsel. The probe is being conducted under the supervision of executive director, president and chief operating officer (COO) Aarthi Subramanian.

To strengthen oversight, TCS has constituted a committee chaired by Keki Mistry, an independent director on its board. The findings of the investigation will be submitted to this panel, which will review the conclusions and guide any follow-up action.

The company also clarified certain issues that have surfaced in sections of the media. It stated that Nida Khan, who has been described in some reports as an HR manager, was in fact employed as a process associate and did not hold any recruitment or managerial responsibilities.

TCS further denied reports that its Nashik unit has been shut, stating that operations continue normally and there has been no disruption to client services.

While the investigation is ongoing, the company said a preliminary review of its systems and records has not revealed any complaints of the nature alleged. It added that no such grievances have been received through its ethics helpline or under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) mechanism so far.

TCS said the independent review is aimed at establishing the facts and ensuring accountability, with the oversight committee expected to play a key role in assessing the findings and recommending further action, if necessary.

This is suspicious. Seven women were allegedly affected but not even one of the seven complained to the helpline.
