Shoppers Stop Q3 net profit rises 45% to Rs27.9 crore

Shoppers Stop Ltd said its net profit for the third quarter ended 31 December 2010 stood at Rs27.9 crore against Rs19.2 crore, which is up by 45% compared to the same last year.

The company has reported a gross retail sales of Rs515.9 crore for the December 2010 quarter compared to Rs417.1 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal; witnessing a jump of 24%.

For the nine months period, Shoppers Stop registered gross retail sales of Rs1,401.5 crore compared to Rs1,131.8 crore during the same period last year; surging 24%. Net profit for this period stood at Rs55.2 crore as against Rs33.8 crore, registering an increase of 63%.

On Monday, Shoppers Stop ended 3.77% up at Rs366.05 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex gained 0.76% to 19,151.28 points.
