Sensex, Nifty Moving Sideways - Monday Closing Report

On Monday, Sensex fell 334.98 points and Nifty ended below 17,800 points. On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), 1900 stocks advanced, 1695 declined and 198 remained unchanged with advance decline ratio of 1.12, indicating a positive closing of stocks in broader markets. The trend of the major indices on Monday’s trading is given in the table below:
 
 
On NSE, 31 securities advanced and closed at new 52 week high whereas 92 securities sank to close at their new 52-week lows.  
 
In sectoral indices, Nifty Media, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Infrastructure were among the biggest gainers. Nifty Energy and Nifty Metal were among the biggest losers. 
 
Indian rupee closed at 82.73/$ against previous close of 81.83/$.
