Sensex, Nifty Futures Higher Amid CAS Volatility

On Wednesday, 2,330 stocks advanced, 1,911 declined and 216 remained unchanged on Bombay Stock Exchange with advance decline ratio of indicating 1.22 a positive closing. The trend of the major indices on Wednesday’s trading is given in the table below. 
 
 
On NSE, 141 securities advanced and closed at a new 52-week high whereas 30 securities sank to close at their new 52-week lows. Nifty Metal, Nifty Auto and Nifty PSU Bank were among the biggest gainers. Nifty Media, Nifty FMCG  and Nifty India Defence were among the biggest gainers.
 
Adani Power (-0.46%) received NCLT Ahmedabad approval for the merger of several subsidiaries, effective 1 April 2025, aiming to streamline its operations and improve efficiencies.
 
Ramco Cements (-2.51%) completed the sale of non-core assets worth ₹1,106.47 crore, as part of a multi-year asset monetisation strategy disclosed since 2024.
 
Maithan Alloys (+0.60%) acquired a 0.29% stake in Sterlite Technologies for ₹91.24 crore via stock exchange, enhancing its investment portfolio.
 
SEPC (+6.22%) secured an ₹854.57 crore engineering contract from SAIL for the IISCO Steel Plant expansion, with project completion expected in 32 months.
 
Samvardhana Motherson International (+2.22%) incorporated SMAST BV in the Netherlands in August 2026 to expand its aerospace and advanced systems operations internationally.
 
Jubilant Foodworks (+4.30%) revoked corporate guarantees of EUR 116 million after subsidiary refinancing, enhancing financial flexibility and risk management.
 
Urban Company (+0.47%) launched Native M3 and M3 Pro water purifiers priced from ₹22,000, featuring long-life filters and a 3-year warranty to reduce maintenance costs. Panacea Biotec secured a UNICEF contract worth approximately US$ 8.205 million for bOPV vaccine supply in 2028, continuing its long-term collaboration with the global health organization, strengthening its international presence.
 
Smartworks Coworking Spaces (-0.58%) expanded its Delhi NCR footprint by opening a 1.41 lakh sq. ft managed office in Aerocity, enhancing its service offerings to multinational corporations and GCCs in a growing commercial hub.
 
Castrol India (+2.39%) reported a 42.5% YoY rise in net profit to ₹347 crore and a 25% increase in revenue to ₹1,871 crore for Q2. EBITDA surged 40.8% to ₹599.4 crore, with margins expanding to 32.03% from 28.44%, reflecting strong business momentum and cost efficiencies.
 
Kirloskar Ferrous Industries (-0.62%) saw net profit plunge 65.5% YoY to ₹82 crore in Q1, despite revenue rising 4.3% to ₹1,771.5 crore. EBITDA dipped slightly by 0.6% to ₹216 crore, with margins narrowing to 12% from 13%, impacted primarily by higher tax expenses.
 
Whirlpool India (-1.49%) reported a 29.4% YoY decline in Q1 net profit to ₹103 crore, even as revenue grew 12% to ₹2,727 crore. EBITDA dropped 34% to ₹140 crore, with margins contracting to 5% due to input cost pressures and unfavorable mix.
 
Gateway Distriparks (-6.35%) faced an 18.7% YoY decline in Q1 net profit to ₹49 crore, while revenue remained flat at ₹549.3 crore. EBITDA fell 2% to ₹117 crore, with a slight margin contraction to 21.31%, reflecting pressure on operating efficiency.
 
JTL Industries (-0.93%) nearly doubled its Q1 net profit, rising 99.4% YoY to ₹32.55 crore on revenue growth of 32.7% to ₹721.61 crore, driven by strong demand and improved operating performance.
 
Paisalo (-2.77%) Financial Services posted a 30% YoY increase in Q1 net profit to ₹61 crore, alongside a 26.4% rise in net interest income to ₹135 crore, supported by lending growth and operational efficiencies.
 
Shilpa Medicare (+11.96%) more than doubled Q1 net profit to ₹101 crore, up 114.9% YoY, supported by a 45% revenue increase to ₹466 crore. EBITDA rose 48.6% to ₹136.2 crore, with margins improving to 29.25%.
 
Snowman Logistics (+2.89%) achieved a 79% YoY increase in Q1 net profit to ₹4.55 crore, with revenue up 9% to ₹177.68 crore. EBITDA grew 18% to ₹28.61 crore, and margins expanded to 16.1%, reflecting improved cost management.
 
NHPC (-2.36%) posted a modest 2.9% YoY net profit increase to ₹1,096 crore in Q1, with revenue rising 18.5% to ₹3,808 crore. EBITDA jumped 30.6% to ₹2,352 crore, and margins improved to 61.8%, driven by operational efficiencies.
 
MCX (-3.04%) witnessed a 22% QoQ net profit decline to ₹413 crore in Q1, with revenue down 21% to ₹702 crore. EBITDA decreased 25.8% to ₹494 crore, and margins contracted to 70.4%, reflecting a slower quarter.
 
Kalyan Jewellers (-3.70%) achieved 45.7% YoY revenue growth to ₹10,588.93 crore in Q1, driven by strong consumer demand. Total income rose 45.5% to ₹10,644.67 crore, marking robust business momentum.
