Office Order on BSNL Director’s Prayagraj Visit Draws Scrutiny; Trip Subsequently Cancelled

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has cancelled the proposed visit of its Director (Consumer Fixed Access), Vivek Banzal, to Prayagraj scheduled for 25 and 26 February 2026, following public circulation of an internal office order that outlined extensive arrangements for the two-day programme.
 
The order, dated 19 February 2026, was issued by the office of the principal general manager, Prayagraj business area. The multi-page document detailed logistical and administrative preparations for the visit and assigned responsibilities to more than 50 officers and staff members across departments. After the document surfaced on social media, it drew significant public attention, particularly for the scale and specificity of arrangements listed.
 
The office order set out 21 programme heads covering reception, accommodation, transportation, meetings and local visits. Officials were assigned to receive the director on arrival at Prayagraj Junction, coordinate escort duties and manage movement between venues. The itinerary included visits to Sangam, Bade Hanuman Ji temple, Akshayavat and other locations, in addition to meetings at the CTO building and a visit to Tewa Gram GP. Time schedules were specified for each activity, along with the names and contact details of the officers responsible.
 
One section of the order described preparations related to a proposed ritual dip at the Sangam. It mentioned the arrangement of bathing kits containing items such as towels, undergarments, comb, mirror, slippers, soap, shampoo and oil. Responsibilities were assigned for procurement, packing and distribution of these kits. The document also included instructions regarding arrangements at the circuit house and hotel, including room readiness, guest reception and general hospitality coordination.
 
Additional provisions in the order covered vehicle arrangements, including deployment of specified cars, cleaning and decoration of the CTO building and campus, arrangement of lighting and fans where required, booking of venues and preparation of mementos. Separate teams were tasked with agenda preparation, meeting documentation and overall coordination. The order also referred to preparation of PowerPoint presentations, photocopying and recording, photography and videography during the programme, and arrangements for projectors, laptops and refreshments at the conference hall.
 
The document, signed by the deputy general manager, was circulated internally as an official directive. Following its wider circulation and public reaction, the proposed visit was cancelled.
 
BSNL, a state-owned telecom service provider, has been undergoing financial restructuring and revival efforts in recent years, supported by government-approved packages aimed at strengthening its operations. The circulation of the detailed office order led to discussion on social media regarding the scope and nature of administrative arrangements outlined for the visit.
