Nifty, Sensex Struggle; Broader Market Strong – Thursday Market Report

On Thursday, 2,825 stocks advanced, 1424 declined, and 179 remained unchanged on the Bombay Stock Exchange with an advance-decline ratio of 1.98, indicating a positive closing. The trend of the major indices on Thursday’s trading is given in the table below. 
 
 
On NSE, 136 securities advanced and closed at a new 52-week high, whereas 34 securities sank to close at their new 52-week lows. Nifty IT, Nifty Auto and Nifty India Defence were the biggest losers. Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Pharma were the biggest gainers.
 
Dr. Reddy's reported some batches of Semaglutide failed quality specs due to an issue with the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API). The company is investigating and taking corrective actions, with commercial supplies delayed temporarily but no impact on patient safety or regulatory filings. 
 
BLS International Services (-3.34%)  fully subscribed to the share capital of its new subsidiary, BLS International Services Japan Co. Ltd, expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific visa outsourcing market. The subsidiary will handle visa processing, e-visas, biometric authentication, and related services in Japan.
 
NLC India Limited (+3.06%) and National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) formed a 50:50 joint venture to develop a 1,080 MW coal-based thermal power plant in Odisha to support NALCO’s smelter expansion, with a 25-year fuel supply and power purchase agreement in place.
 
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (-0.39%) reported a 4.61% year-on-year rise in Q1 net profit to ₹13,349 crore and a 14% revenue increase to ₹72,275 crore, driven by strong demand for digital and AI services despite global economic challenges.
 
Ceigall India Limited’s(+0.75%)  board approved security creation and further investment in Velgaon Power Transmission Limited for a 400/220 kV substation project, with Rs 109.19 crore to be infused in tranches as per project funding needs.
 
Datamatics  (+1.85%) won a contract from a North American logistics firm to implement Salesforce Cloud for CRM enhancement, improving customer engagement and sales visibility across the client’s operations.
 
Premier Energies (+4.34%)  inaugurated a new 5.6 GW solar module plant in Telangana, boosting its total capacity to 11.1 GW, and launched groundbreaking for battery storage and aluminium frame facilities to support India’s clean energy push.
 
Vikram Solar  (+5.21%) signed an agreement with Evervolt Solar to procure 130 MW of Mono-PERC 10BB DCR-compliant solar cells from July 2026 to March 2027, strengthening its domestic module manufacturing supply chain.
 
Solex Energy (+2.04%)  secured a ₹628.37 crore order from a leading Indian IPP to supply high-efficiency N-Type TOPCon solar modules, with deliveries scheduled between October 2026 and March 2027.
 
Insolation Green Energy, a subsidiary of Insolation Energy(+9.27%) , received a ₹558.29 crore contract from NTPC Renewable Energy for solar PV module supply during FY 2026-27.
 
Piramal Pharma (+2.31%) announced the US FDA's successful completion and closure of its regulatory inspection at the Sellersville, USA manufacturing facility, marking a key compliance milestone.
 
United Drilling Tools (-1.20%)  supplied premium connection casing pipes to Oil India for a gas well in Assam, entering the high-value premium casing segment and supporting Make in India initiatives in energy equipment manufacturing.
