Nifty, Sensex remains under pressure – Tuesday closing report
We had mentioned in Monday’s closing report that Nifty, Sensex were headed lower. The major indices ended with minor losses. On the NSE, there were 762 advances, 1,012 declines and 371 unchanged. The trends of the major indices in the course of Tuesday’s trading are given in the table below:
 
 
The boards of three public sector general insurance companies - National Insurance Company, Oriental Insurance Company and United India Insurance Company - have formally given their nod for their amalgamation, as was announced by the central government earlier.
 
Shares of Vodafone Idea on Tuesday jumped over 20% on the BSE after the Supreme Court agreed to hear the modification plea filed by telecom operators on giving them more time to pay off Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) related dues. The SC will hear next week a plea of telecom companies seeking a fresh schedule on the payment of dues nearly Rs.1.47 lakh crore to the Department of Telecommunications.
 
An industry body representing private airport companies such as GMR and GVK on Tuesday said that the Commerce Ministry's proposed move to restrict purchase of liquor to one bottle and a complete ban on sale of cigarettes from duty-free shops would cause an annual revenue loss to the tune of Rs 650 crore to the airport sector.
 
Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has commissioned phase I information system to provide real-time train information to the Indian Railways and increase its operational efficiency, besides enhancing passenger safety. The system also provides real-time positional information of locomotives to the railways. It facilitates automatic acquisition of train movement data, including arrival, departure and run-through timings at all stations en route.
 
Zomato has acquired Uber's Food Delivery Business in India in an all-stock deal and Uber will have 9.99% stake in the Deepinder Goyal-led food delivery platform.
 
Sasken Technologies posted 0.77% year-on-year growth in revenues to Rs131.51 crore. Net profits grew 29.77% to Rs23.45 crore. Newgen Software Technologies posted 14.69% year-on-year growth in revenues to Rs188.98 crore. Net profits grew 32.74% to Rs23.96 crore.

    Nifty, Sensex Headed Lower – Monday closing report
    We had mentioned in Friday’s closing report that Nifty, Sensex may give up some gains. The major indices suffered a major correction. On the NSE, there were 631 advances, 1,174 declines and 358 unchanged. The trends of the major indices in the course of Monday’s trading are given in the table below:
     
     
    The benchmark Sensex declined 120 points during the early trade on Monday owing to the selling in heavyweights. 
     
    Reliance Jio witnessed churn of 22 million heavy voice subscribers and its ARPUs have not improved despite tariff hikes as most of the subscribers are on the 84-day plan, analyst firm SBI Caps Securities has said, adding that net subscriber adds were muted due to churn of heavy voice users. Jio's gross subscriber additions continue to be driven by Jio phones.
     
    Financial expert Punit Sood will head the Royal Bank of Scotland's (RBS) technology and operations hub in India's tech city to build its strategic capabilities for achieving the bank's goals, worldwide, said an official.
     
    E-commerce giant Amazon India will deploy 10,000 electric vehicles (EVs) in its delivery fleet by 2025, the company said on Monday. An Amazon official said the company is dedicated to building a supply chain model of operations which will minimise adverse environmental impact as it aims to decrease its dependence on non-renewable sources.
     
    AMS Polymers will establish a manufacturing unit, wherein the chemicals, both organic and inorganic, would be manufactured in-house by the company itself and till the time it is set up, Annu Industries will manufacture the chemicals, both organic and inorganic, under the brand name, 'ANNU & CUREXPERT' for AMS Polymers.
     
    Kamdhenu brought its own type of steel, Power Alloy Steel 10000 (PAS10000) in the country. The company claims that PAS10000 is presented with the qualities of metal alloy and is capable of giving unmatched strength and safety to the construction.
     
    For the quarter ended December 2019, Federal Bank posted 14.51% year-on-year growth in net interest income to Rs3,834.71 crore. Net profits grew 32.91% yoy to Rs451.62 crore.
     
    For the quarter ended December 2019, Kotak Mahindra Bank posted 19.34% year-on-year growth in net interest income to Rs13,542.43 crore. Net profits grew 27.37% yoy to Rs2,348.72 crore.
     
    Following the inspection by USFDA at the Patalganga manufacturing facility, Cipla has received the Establishment Inspection Report (EIR), indicating closure of the inspection.
     
    The gross non-performing assets of HDFC Bank grew to 1.42% of gross advances as on December 31, 2019, (1.2% excluding NPAs in the agricultural segment) as against 1.38% as on September 30, 2019 (1.2% excluding NPAs in the agricultural segment) and 1.38% as on December 31, 2018 (1.1% excluding NPAs in the agricultural segment).
     
    For the quarter ended December 2019, Cupid posted 290% year-on-year growth in revenue income to Rs43.57 crore. Net profits grew 402.96% yoy to Rs10.21 crore.
