Nifty, Sensex Rally on Rupee Decline, JP Morgan’s Bullish Call on Emerging Markets - Monday Market Report

On Monday, 2531 stocks advanced, 1565 declined and 177 remained unchanged on Bombay Stock Exchange with advance decline ratio of 1.61 indicating a positive closing in the broader market. The trend of the major indices on Monday’s trading is given in the table below. 
 
 
On NSE, 53 securities advanced and closed at a new 52-week high whereas 25 securities sank to close at their new 52-week lows.  In sectoral indices, all sectors ended in green -- Nifty Auto, Nifty IT, and Nifty FMCG were among the biggest gainers. 
 
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) (+0.70%) announced that its joint venture successfully resumed production from the offshore PY-3 field in the Cauvery Basin. This followed the implementation of a multi-phase revised field development plan. The joint venture implemented a multi-phase field development plan to revive operations, which had been shut since 2011. 
 
Metropolis Healthcare (+1.97%) disclosed the completion of its acquisition of the entire business of Dr. Ahujas' Pathology & Imaging Centre. The acquired operations are now being carried out under its wholly-owned subsidiary, Dapic Metropolis Healthcare Private Limited.
 
LT Foods (+1.95%) wholly-owned subsidiary, LT Foods Americas Inc., acquired the remaining 49% equity shares of Golden Star Trading, Inc which it does not already own.
 
Hatsun Agro Product (+0.43%) announced merger of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Milk Mantra Dairy Private Limited, with Hatsun Agro Product Limited. The merger remains subject to necessary regulatory and shareholder approvals.
 
Bajaj Auto (+2.49%) informed that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV (BAIH), entered into a call option agreement. This agreement grants BAIH the right to purchase shares in Pierer Bajaj AG (PBAG), a critical step towards Bajaj acquiring a controlling stake in PBAG, the holding company of KTM.
 
Sun Pharma (-0.45%) announced an agreement to invest up to $25 million in US-based Pharmazz Inc. This investment, combined with an earlier SAFE conversion, is expected to result in an aggregate stake of up to approximately 22.7% in Pharmazz on a fully diluted basis.
 
Divi's Laboratories (+3.92%) signed a long-term manufacturing and supply agreement with a global pharma company. The agreement involves the manufacturing and supply of advanced intermediates and is expected to contribute significantly to revenue. The cost of capacity addition for manufacturing under this agreement is estimated to be around Rs.650-750 crores, which will be funded from the capacity reservation advance proposed to be paid by the customer phase-wise under this agreement.
 
Indoco Remedies (-0.66%) announced that it received final approval from the USFDA for its abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for Allopurinol Tablets USP, 200 mg. This approval allows the company to market a generic equivalent to ZYLOPRIM 200 mg in the US market.
