Nifty, Sensex May Rally – Thursday Market Report

On Thursday, 2043 stocks advanced, 1934 declined and 134 remained unchanged on Bombay Stock Exchange with advance decline ratio of 1.05 indicating a positive closing in the broader market. The trend of the major indices on Thursday’s trading is given in the table below.  
 
 
On NSE, 57 securities advanced and closed at a new 52-week high whereas 24 securities sank to close at their new 52-week lows. Nifty Metal, Nifty Pharma and Nifty IT were among the biggest gainers. Nifty FMCG and Nifty PSU Bank were among the biggest losers.
 
Sequent Scientific (+4.54%) received stock exchange approvals for its proposed merger with Hyderabad-based Viyash Life Sciences, and the company has now filed for clearance with the NCLT. This merger aims to combine their animal health and API businesses, significantly expanding R&D talent and USFDA-approved manufacturing capacity. The combined entity is expected to double in scale and enhance profitability, with Viyash shareholders receiving 56 SeQuent shares for every 100 Viyash shares.
 
Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWREL) (+0.58%) emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a 225 MW (AC) grid-connected solar PV project in Gujarat, India. This marks the company's first domestic order for the Fy25-26. The project will be developed on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) basis for a leading PSU developer, further strengthening SWREL's presence in the Gujarat market.
 
RITES (-0.96%)  and Shree Cement (+0.07%)  signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of rail infrastructure and allied services. This agreement aims to enhance logistics efficiency and support industrial growth.
 
In anticipation of its acquisition by Delhivery (+0.45%), valued at Rs1,407 crore for a 99.4% stake - Ecom Express reported that around 150 mid-level and regional operations employees voluntarily resigned, and CEO Ajay Chitkara along with other senior executives are expected to depart post-regulatory clearance. These changes are part of broader restructuring efforts aimed at integrating the two logistics firms to enhance scale and market value proposition.
 
Samvardhana Motherson International (+2.28%) revenue grew 6.6% y-o-y to Rs29,316.8 crore in Q4FY25, helped by improvements in the wiring harness and modules & polymer products segments. However, net profit fell 23.4% y-o-y to Rs1,050.5 crore due to higher inventory and employee benefits expenses. 
 
Reliance Power (+3.55% )unit, Reliance NU Energies, won a 350 MW solar power project with a 175 MW/700 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) from Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN). 
 
Waaree Solar Americas secured a substantial order valued at $176 million for 586 MW of solar modules. This significant contract comes from a US-based utility-scale solar developer, with supply slated to begin in FY26-27.
