Nifty, Sensex May Go Remain Volatile and Sideways – Thursday Market Report

On Thursday, 2803 stocks advanced, 1453 declined, and 161 remained unchanged on the Bombay Stock Exchange with an advance-decline ratio of 1.93, indicating a positive closing. The trend of the major indices on Thursday’s trading is given in the table below. 
 
 
On NSE, 27 securities advanced and closed at a new 52-week high, whereas 298 securities sank to close at their new 52-week lows. Nifty India Defence, Nifty Metal and Nifty Infrastructure were the biggest gainer. Nifty IT were the biggest loser.
 
GAIL (India) (+1.37%) disclosed that Petronet LNG (+4.66%) issued a Force Majeure notice on 3 March 2026, suspending supplies under its long term contract due to shipping constraints and regional tensions in the Middle East. Restrictions on LNG vessel navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, compounded by a possible shutdown at Ras Laffan liquefaction facility (Qatar). Petronet has reduced allocation to zero from 4 March 2026, leaving GAIL to assess downstream supply curtailments. GAIL noted that other LNG sources remain unaffected, which may cushion immediate disruptions.
 
Hindustan Zinc (+0.74%) signed an MoU with Virginia Tech to improve silver recovery in lead–zinc concentrator plants. The collaboration will refine flotation processes and reagent optimisation to enhance concentrate quality and efficiency.
 
Aarti Industries (+2.27%) announced a material amendment to its long‑term supply agreement with a leading global chemical company. The revised deal expands scope to include backward integration, with AIL now set to manufacture a significant portion of the feedstock in‑house. The company plans to invest ₹200–250 crore over two years to establish the new facility at Dahej SEZ, Gujarat, ensuring seamless supply to its existing production line.
 
Tata Elxsi (+0.97%) introduced DevStudio.ai, a multi‑agentic AI platform tailored for the automotive software development lifecycle (SDLC). The system is ASPICE‑aligned and enables coordinated collaboration between AI agents and automotive engineers across complex workflows. It supports cloud and air‑gapped on‑premise deployments, giving OEMs, suppliers, and semiconductor firms flexibility while embedding AI into their development processes.
 
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (+4.09%) signed an MoU with Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd. (KSSL) to co‑develop indigenous naval systems, unmanned platforms, and strategic maritime technologies. The partnership combines GRSE’s shipbuilding expertise with KSSL’s defence OEM capabilities (Bharat Forge group). Focus areas include propulsion systems, integrated platform management, deck equipment, and next‑gen unmanned maritime technologies (USVs, AUVs), with scope to pursue global defence market opportunities jointly.
 
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (+8.64%) is set to play a central role as the Indian Navy prepares to finalise a ₹99,000 crore deal with Germany’s Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems for six advanced submarines. The vessels are expected to be constructed in Mumbai, reinforcing India’s domestic defence manufacturing capabilities.
 
Granules India (+3.42%) announced that its US step‑down subsidiary, Granules Consumer Health, LLC, received an Establishment Inspection Report (EIR) with No Action Indicated (NAI) status from the USFDA after a December 2025 inspection of its Manassas, Virginia packaging facility. The audit concluded with zero observations, confirming full compliance with regulatory standards.
 
Mastek (+4.72%) through its UK subsidiary, secured a £85 million (around $110M) engineering contract from the UK Home Office to modernise the ATLAS platform, the backbone of immigration and border operations. The engagement will deploy specialised engineering teams and AI‑driven accelerators to scale ATLAS, making it more resilient, available, and efficient.
