Moneylife Digital Team 08 September 2026
On Tuesday, 2,096 stocks advanced, 2,291 declined and 239 remained unchanged on Bombay Stock Exchange with advance decline ratio of 0.91 indicating a negative closing. The trend of the major indices on Tuesday’s trading is given in the table below.

On NSE, 151 securities advanced and closed at a new 52-week high whereas 90 securities sank to close at their new 52-week lows. Nifty Infrastructure, Nifty IT and Nifty PSU Bank were among the biggest gainers. Nifty India Defence, Nifty Media and Nifty Pharma were among the biggest losers.

Pfizer (−6.22%) hit a 52-week low after the company discontinued the marketing, distribution and sale of Minipress XL in India from September. Minipress XL is an alpha-blocker predominantly prescribed to treat severe or uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure) and to manage urinary symptoms linked with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). The immediate suspension of marketing, sales, and distribution of Minipress XL (prazosin hydrochloride) in India is a direct consequence of a decision by the parent company, Pfizer Inc. USA, to halt global manufacturing of the drug. To ease the transition and absorb the sudden loss of this core cardiovascular asset, the US parent firm is providing a one-time lump-sum transition payment of $13.9 million (approximately ₹131.38 crore). Concurrently, Novartis India executed an asset purchase agreement to acquire the trademarks and associated intellectual property rights of the Minipress and Minipres brands in India for ₹1,250 crore. Driven by this major strategic acquisition, Novartis India's (+11.12%) stock jumped to a 52-week high of ₹1,856.

Tata Communications (+0.82%) had dissolved its wholly owned indirect subsidiary Kaleyra Africa, effective September 4. The entity was non-operational and had contributed no revenue or net worth in the previous financial year, limiting the financial impact of the move.

Innovision (-1.66%) had secured a ₹219.07 crore NHAI contract for toll collection and facility maintenance at two fee plazas on the Indore-Dewas section of NH-3 in Madhya Pradesh. The contract was awarded for one year through competitive bidding.

HMA Agro Industries (-3.15%) had decided to divest its entire stake in FNS Agro Foods for around ₹5.01 crore. The subsidiary had no operating turnover in the last financial year and represented only 0.51% of HMA Agro’s net worth. The transaction was classified as a related-party deal and was to be completed by September 30.

Jupiter Wagons (-1.05%) had secured an order worth over ₹97.66 crore from GATX India for manufacturing and supplying BFNS22.9 wagon rakes. The order strengthened its position in the private wagon leasing market.
Ceigall India  (+1.23%) had emerged as the highest bidder for a stone-block mining project in Bihar’s Nawada district. The contract carried an annual value of ₹28.82 crore, with a cumulative value of ₹214.52 crore over five years, excluding GST.

Goldiam International (-0.66%) had secured export orders worth ₹60 crore for lab-grown diamond jewellery from US-based customers. The orders were scheduled for completion by December 31, 2026, and excluded online sales.

Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works (+0.81%) had approved plans to raise up to ₹500 crore through listed NCDs via private placement or public issue. The fundraising would remain within the company’s overall ₹1,200 crore borrowing limit.

RBL Bank (+0.84%) had established a US$1 billion Euro Medium Term Note programme to widen its access to international capital markets. The programme was aimed at providing greater funding flexibility and supporting liability management.

Tata Consultancy Services (-0.64%) had secured a ₹122.60 crore contract from the Odisha government to implement OSWAS 3.0. The project was expected to modernise state governance through workflow automation, analytics, security and AI capabilities.

Biocon (+0.23%) had entered into a partnership with Bahiafarma and Bionovis for Pertuzumab supply in Brazil. The consortium had secured 100% allocation under Brazil’s 10-year Productive Development Partnership programme, providing access to around 70% of the country’s public-market demand for the drug.

Intellect Design Arena  (+1.41%) had launched MSOCK, an AI-native enterprise knowledge platform aimed at enabling financial institutions to make business, operational, compliance and technology knowledge more accessible to AI systems.

ICICI Lombard  (-0.60%) had been fined ₹1 crore by IRDAI over lapses related to outsourcing processes. The penalty followed an inspection conducted in 2019 and subsequent regulatory proceedings.

Genesys International (+20.00%) hit upper circuit on strong volumes and delivery activity. No major fresh company-specific announcement was identified as the trigger. The stock remained well below its 52-week high of ₹433.10, despite the sharp day’s move.

Astec Lifesciences (+20.00%) locked in the upper circuit amid heavy buying, with no specific fresh corporate catalyst identified. The stock had continued to attract market interest despite its weak June-quarter performance, when it reported a consolidated loss of ₹18.72 crore.

Mishra Dhatu Nigam (+13.60% ) rallied after the Defence Acquisition Council cleared procurement proposals worth around ₹1.10 lakh crore, with about 98% targeted at Indian industry. MIDHANI was seen as a beneficiary given its role as a supplier of specialty alloys to the defence and aerospace sectors.

Raymond (+11.06%) hit a fresh 52-week high as investors awaited the board’s fundraising decision. The board subsequently approved raising up to ₹214.71 crore through preferential issue of 33.29 lakh convertible warrants at ₹645 each. The proposed issue was subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.

New India Assurance (−11.24%)came under sharp profit-taking after a strong recent run. The decline was linked to weaker grey-market sentiment around the proposed NSE IPO, with NIACL’s direct NSE stake making the stock particularly sensitive to IPO developments.

IDBI Bank (-10.62%) declined after investors focused on reports that Fairfax Financial Holdings had offered around ₹81 per share for a controlling stake in the bank’s privatisation process. The reported offer was below recent market levels.

HEG (-5.00%) declined following the effective demerger of its graphite-electrodes business. The fall largely reflected the post-demerger price adjustment rather than a fundamental loss in shareholder value, as investors were due to receive shares in the resulting entity.

Menon Bearings (-4.99%)  declined on profit booking, with no major company-specific filing, earnings update, order or other catalyst identified in the preceding five trading sessions.

Archean Chemical Industries (-4.84%) fell without any major fresh company-specific trigger being identified. The move came amid broader weakness in the market and sector.

Viviana Power Tech (-4.60%) declined, with no significant company-specific catalyst identified in the recent trading sessions.
