Nifty, Sensex End Marginally Lower as Crude, Rate Fears Offset Strong GDP Growth: Tuesday Market Report

On Tuesday, 1,700 stocks advanced, 2,645 declined and 221 remained unchanged on Bombay Stock Exchange with advance decline ratio of 0.64 indicating a negative closing.
 
The trend of the major indices on Tuesday’s trading is given in the table below. 
 
 
On NSE, 119 securities advanced and closed at a new 52-week high whereas 111 securities sank to close at their new 52-week lows. Nifty IT, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Infrastructure were among the biggest gainers. Nifty Pharma, Nifty Auto and Nifty PSU Bank were among the biggest losers.
 
Steel Strips Wheels (+16.88%) reported its highest-ever August net turnover at ₹592.92 crore, up 53.62% y-o-y. Gross turnover stood at ₹687.51 crore, up 44.72% y-o-y. Aluminium products value grew 73% y-o-y, exports rose 63%, while 2W/3W and truck value increased 61% and 53%, respectively.
 
Savita Oil Technologies (+12.04%) shareholders approved all six resolutions at the 65th AGM held on August 31. The company declared a 250% dividend of ₹5 per share for FY26. Siddharth G. Mehra was re-appointed as Director and appointed Joint Managing Director, while Ajay Reche was appointed Whole-time Director.
 
Flair Writing Industries (+0.53%) invested ₹100.01 crore in its wholly owned subsidiary Flair Writing Equipments through a rights issue. It subscribed to 3,415 shares at ₹2,92,845 per share. The subsidiary had reported consolidated turnover of ₹270.95 crore in FY26, with the investment aimed at debt repayment and reducing finance costs.
 
Wipro (-1.52%) renewed its Digital Workplace Services contract with ABB. The engagement was expanded to include AI-powered workplace services, automation, predictive support and GenAI-enabled self-service capabilities. Wipro was also set to support endpoint security and device lifecycle management.
 
Vishal Mega Mart (-3.70%) subsidiary Airplaza Retail Holdings was penalised ₹0.03 crore for a food-safety violation at its Metpally store. The penalty followed an inspection in May 2026 in which a redgram sample failed to meet food-safety requirements. The company said the financial impact was limited to the penalty and planned to recover the amount from the manufacturer.
 
Delta Corp(-1.81%)  received notice from the Supreme Court on its plea seeking a licence for electronic amusement games and slot machines at The Deltin in Daman. The matter was listed for hearing on October 1, 2026. A favourable outcome could have opened an additional gaming revenue stream, subject to the final ruling.
 
Tata Consumer Products (-0.67%) acquired an additional 5% stake in Capital Foods, taking its total holding to 80%. The stake was purchased from Wildflower Private Trust. Tata Consumer had initially acquired 75% of Capital Foods in 2024 and had indicated plans to eventually acquire up to 100%.
 
Pidilite Industries (-2.62%) received a ₹0.10 crore penalty order from the Central GST & C. Excise authorities in Bihar for FY21. The company said it was reviewing the order and evaluating its right to appeal. It stated that the development was not expected to materially impact its operations or financial position.
 
Texmaco Rail & Engineering (+3.78%) received a USD 135 million Letter of Award from Tsiko Africa Logistics in partnership with Barberry Holdings. The order covered the design, manufacture, supply and commissioning of Wabtec ES43ACi diesel-electric locomotives. The project was scheduled for execution over 20-24 months after signing the definitive agreement.
 
TVS Motor (-3.19%) reported total sales of 6,16,540 units in August, up 21% y-o-y. Two-wheeler sales rose 21% to 5,91,437 units, while electric two-wheeler sales jumped 137% to 59,453 units. International sales increased 29% and three-wheeler sales rose 34% y-o-y.
 
Ashok Leyland (-2.91%) reported total domestic and export sales of 21,038 vehicles in August, up 38% y-o-y. Domestic sales increased 43% to 19,438 units, while M&HCV truck sales rose 60% to 10,748 units. LCV sales grew 25% to 7,319 units, while cumulative sales increased 20% y-o-y to 89,391 units.
 
Eicher Motors (+0.21%) subsidiary VECV reported total August sales of 8,434 units, up 17.7% y-o-y. Domestic truck and bus sales rose 19.8% to 7,584 units, while exports declined 2.5% to 578 units. Volvo truck and bus sales increased 11.9% to 272 units, with FY27 YTD sales up 15.6% to 41,490 units.It eported August motorcycle sales of 1,26,479 units, up 11% y-o-y. Sales of motorcycles up to 350cc increased 15% to 1,13,143 units, while models above 350cc declined 13% to 13,336 units. International sales rose 10% to 12,275 units.
 
Force Motors (+1.12%) reported total domestic and export sales of 3,802 units in August, up 58.22% y-o-y. Domestic sales jumped 62.14% to 3,721 units, while exports declined 25% to 81 units. Strong domestic volumes drove the overall growth.
 
Jubilant Pharmova (+2.91%) received a show-cause notice proposing GST, interest and penalty of ₹87.31 crore for FY23. The demand included ₹33.58 crore in GST, ₹20.15 crore in interest and ₹33.58 crore in penalty. The company said it planned to contest the notice and expected no financial or operational impact.
 
Atul Auto (-2.19%) reported total three-wheeler sales of 4,012 units in August, up 32.58% y-o-y. Domestic sales rose 31.14% to 3,411 units, while IC-engine three-wheeler sales increased 46.01% to 3,386 units. EV sales declined 11.46% to 626 units.
 
Tata Elxsi (+1.66%) entered into an MoU with Sarla Aviation to support the development of Shunya, an indigenous electric VTOL aircraft. Tata Elxsi was set to provide engineering support across avionics, flight controls, software integration, testing and certification. The partnership also covered navigation software and structural design.
 
Maruti Suzuki (-4.41%) reported total August sales of 2,19,220 units. Domestic sales stood at 1,80,078 units, while exports came in at 33,844 units and OEM sales at 5,298 units. Total FY27 sales crossed the 1-million-unit mark in the first five months.
 
Tata Motors (-1.43%) reported August commercial vehicle sales of 44,411 units, up 49% y-o-y. Domestic CV sales rose 33% to 36,619 units, while international sales surged 227% to 7,792 units. HCV truck sales increased 42% to 10,612 units and SCV cargo/pickup sales rose 34% to 14,447 units.
 
Aurobindo Pharma (-1.96%) incorporated wholly owned subsidiary Avogent Lifesciences through Apitoria Pharma. The new entity was set up with ₹5 crore of paid-up capital and was intended to undertake pharmaceutical manufacturing and marketing in India and overseas. No turnover was available as the subsidiary was newly incorporated.
 
Marine Electricals (+7.92%) received a ₹229.73 crore order from Digital Edge DC India for supplying a power distribution system. The order was scheduled for execution over 15 months. The company said the contract was not a related-party transaction.
 
KPI Green Energy (+1.05%) received an LOI for a 33.6 MW wind and 43 MW DC solar project under a Group Captive arrangement. The project would have an aggregate capacity of 76.6 MW DC and was to be developed in Gujarat. Completion was targeted within 14 months from Stage-2 connectivity.
 
HFCL (-5.00%) entered into a three-year agreement to supply high-fibre-count optical fibre cables to a global multinational. The contract was valued at approximately ₹2,329 crore and covered supplies from 2027 through 2029. The company said the agreement strengthened its position in the global OFC market.
 
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (-2.81%) participated in a White House ceremony focused on medicines pricing and access in the US. The company committed to extending MFN pricing to state Medicaid programmes and future innovative medicine launches. The agreement also involved a delay in Section 232 tariffs on innovative pharmaceutical products for over two years.
 
E2E Networks (+0.35%) signed a binding term sheet with a sovereign AI company for NVIDIA Blackwell cloud GPUs and related services. The agreement was valued at approximately ₹1,000 crore and was expected to remain in force until June 2029.
 
Fortis Healthcare (+0.89%) was directed by the Delhi High Court to undergo a forensic audit concerning the reduction in shareholding of former promoters Singh Brothers. The audit was to examine the involvement of banks, financial institutions and entities linked to the erstwhile promoters. The company said the order imposed no liability, penalty or fine on Fortis.
 
Happiest Minds Technologies (-10.87%) fell after founder Ashok Soota and related entities agreed to sell a 22.106% stake to ITC Infotech for approximately ₹1,329.72 crore. The board also approved the merger of Happiest Minds with ITC Infotech at a swap ratio of 25 ITC Infotech shares for every 81 Happiest Minds shares.
 
EPL (-8.28%) declined after promoter Epsilon Bidco sold its entire 26.38% stake in a block deal worth over ₹2,200 crore. Around 8.45 crore shares changed hands at close to ₹246 per share. The transaction put pressure on the stock during the session.
 
Dynamic Cables(+9.98%) gained after hitting a fresh all-time/52-week high on 1 September 2026  amid strong buying momentum. Q1 FY27 net sales had risen 33.22% y-o-y, while PAT increased 37% y-o-y. A healthy order book also supported investor sentiment.
 
Godrej Agrovet (+6.35%) advanced  on 1 September 2026  after a positive brokerage note. The stock gained 6.35% to ₹654.40 amid increased market interest.
 
Welspun Corp (+6.80%) rose after hitting a fresh all-time/52-week high on 1 September 2026 amid strong buying momentum move appears supported by broader market and sector factors (pipes/steel-related).
 
Engineers India (+6.97%) rose to a 52-week high on 1 September 2026 amid elevated volumes and positive market interest in the engineering/PSU space.
 
Caplin Point Laboratories (+7.70%) hit a fresh all-time/52-week high on on 1 September 2026  due to strong technical momentum and sustained buying interest, outperforming the broader pharmaceuticals sector.
 
Other notable gainers of 4% or more included SML Mahindra (+5.96%), Rain Industries (+5.73%), Vardhman Textiles (+5.29%), Aeroflex Industries (+5.07%), Menon Bearings (+5.01%), Bhansali Engineering  Polymers (+5.01%), Bhageria Industries (+4.99%), Roto Pumps (+4.96%).
