Nifty, Sensex Dip a Bit, Broader Market Firm – Monday Market Report

On Monday, 2226 stocks advanced, 2039 declined and 255 remained unchanged on Bombay Stock Exchange with advance decline ratio of 1.09 indicating a positive closing. The trend of the major indices on Monday’s trading is given in the table below.  
 
 
On NSE, 77 securities advanced and closed at a new 52-week high whereas 56 securities sank to close at their new 52-week lows. In sectoral indices, Nifty Auto and Nifty IT were among the biggest losers.  Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Media were among the biggest gainers.  
 
Karur Vysya Bank (-2.84%) reported a standalone net profit of ₹755.70 crore for Q1 FY27, up 44.9% year-on-year, driven by strong interest income growth and reduced provisions. Total income rose 15.8% to ₹3,491.21 crore. Asset quality remained stable, with a gross NPA ratio of 0.74%.
 
UltraTech Cement (+1.50%) moved closer to launching its wires and cables business in Q3 FY27, having deployed nearly half of the ₹1,800 crore planned capital. The company built manufacturing and supply chain capabilities near Bharuch, Gujarat. This venture aligned with its strategy to become a full building solutions provider.
 
Sumeet Industries (+3.88%) rights issue closed with a 1.75 times subscription, primarily driven by a 67% discount to market price, not company enthusiasm. The issue size was approximately ₹200 crore, aimed at balance sheet repair or working capital. Existing shareholders faced dilution if they did not participate.
 
Godrej Agrovet (+0.72%) inaugurated India’s first Integrated Oil Palm Complex in Telangana, investing ₹300 crore to boost domestic oil palm production. The complex integrated seed genetics, R&D, milling, and refining. The mill had an initial capacity of 30 tonnes per hour, expandable to 60 tonnes.
 
Bondada Engineering (+3.75%) secured a contract from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited to build India's largest 100 MWh Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Energy Storage System in Gujarat. The project was to be completed within 10 months and showcased advanced long-duration energy storage tech. VRFB offered long life and lower operating costs compared to lithium batteries.
 
KPI Green Energy (+0.82%) commissioned 200 MW of solar capacity at Khavda Solar Park for Coal India Limited, certified by the Gujarat Energy Development Agency. The 300 MW project was ongoing, strengthening KPI’s presence in renewables. The company aimed for a 10 GW clean energy portfolio by 2030.
 
Jammu & Kashmir Bank (-0.74%) signed an agreement to sell its 0.50% stake in PNB MetLife for ₹120.10 crore to MetLife International Holdings. The sale involved 1.02 crore shares at ₹117.20 each and was not a related party transaction. The agreement included no special rights beyond share transfer.
 
Kalyani Steels (-0.47%) resumed operations at its Karnataka plant after conditional revocation of closure directions by the Central Pollution Control Board. Compliance measures were reviewed and approved, with further conditions to fulfill. Production restarted at the Ginigera facility.
 
JSW Steel (+1.59%) approved participation in the IPO of JSW One Platforms Limited, offering up to ₹811 crore worth of equity shares as a promoter selling shareholder. The move expanded JSW's footprint beyond steel manufacturing. The IPO was part of JSW’s growth strategy.
 
Time Technoplast (+4.45%) secured a ₹38.14 crore order from HPCL for Type IV Composite LPG Cylinders amid growing adoption. The cylinders offered lightweight, corrosion resistance, and safety advantages. HPCL’s new distribution model facilitated faster delivery via quick-commerce platforms.
 
PTC Industries (+0.50%) won a contract from BrahMos Aerospace to develop and supply a strategic missile sub-system, marking its entry into systems integration. The project demanded advanced manufacturing and high precision. This expanded its aerospace and defense manufacturing capabilities.
 
PNC Infratech (+0.62%) signed concession agreements with NHAI for two highway projects in Uttar Pradesh totaling ₹3,483 crore under the Hybrid Annuity Mode. Projects involved four-lane highway construction with a 24-month build period and 15 years operation. This expanded PNC’s road infrastructure portfolio.
 
HCL Technologies (+1.45%) expanded its partnership with Guardian Life Insurance, acquiring Guardian India Operations for $10.5 million. The seven-year deal focused on AI-led modernization and operational excellence in insurance. Nearly 2,000 Guardian India employees joined HCLTech.
 
AstraZeneca Pharma India (+0.39%) received CDSCO approval to market Benralizumab (Fasenra) for treating Hypereosinophilic Syndrome in patients aged 12+. The approval broadened its use beyond severe eosinophilic asthma in India. Commercial launch awaited further statutory approvals.
 
Gaudium IVF (+2.95%) inaugurated a new fertility center in South Extension, New Delhi, as part of its 19-centre expansion plan. The center featured AI-powered embryology tools and standardized clinical protocols. The expansion aimed to meet rising demand for fertility services across India.
 
Aurum PropTech (-1.87%) agreed to acquire 100% of Locon Solutions, owner of Housing.com, for ₹458.06 crore via an all-share deal. Post-transaction, REA India became Aurum’s largest non-promoter shareholder. The acquisition integrated real estate listings with Aurum’s ecosystem to build an AI-driven platform.
 
Adani Power (+2.57%) signed a 25-year Power Supply Agreement with Maharashtra to supply 1,600 MW from a new 2x800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal plant. The project secured coal linkage under the SHAKTI Policy. This supported Maharashtra’s long-term electricity demand and expanded Adani Power’s generation portfolio.
