Moneylife Survey: Over 75% respondents disappointed with AAP turmoil
Moneylife Digital Team 02 April 2015
While majority of the respondents are disappointed with the recent turmoil in the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP, there are some who think Narendra Modi and BJP hold the best hope for India

The recent turmoil in Aam Admi Party (AAP) has left several people, activists and sympathisers disappointed, reveals a Survey conducted by Moneylife. To understand whether the AAP turmoil hits aam admi's hope for alternative politics and better governance, Moneylife conducted a quick survey.

The Survey consisting just six questions was conducted online between 30th March and 2 April 2015. There were 1,288 people, who responded to all these questions.

We had asked, "Has the recent turmoil in AAP disappointed you?" Almost 76.6% respondent replied in affirmative, while 21.1% people said no. Less than 3% people refused to comment.

The second question was, "With India Against Corruption (IAC) and AAP losing momentum, do you see this as the end of the people's movement against corruption?" Response to this question was at same level, with negative leading by 5%.

With some founder-members of AAP leaving the party, we wanted to know if the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government can still deliver good governance. Almost 67.5% respondents do not think so. While 21.6% people still believe in this, over 10% respondents cannot say anything.

Although, Kejriwal has stated that the party would like to focus on Delhi at present, AAP still have several volunteers and office bearers at several places across the country eager to enter into local politics. However, about 75% of the respondents, who participated in the Survey think that AAP may not find support in other states for its kind of politics.

This brought the next question on if only established political parties can deliver better governance. Here, almost 55% thought so. While 33.4% respondent have hopes from new generation parties compared with established ones, there were over 11% people who have no comment to offer.

In the end of the Survey, we asked people, which party, according to them holds the best hope for India. This question appears to have baffled respondents and also brought most colourful answers. One even asked, "Are you serious?" Other said, "Narendra Modi. BJP is hollow without him," while another says, "I think AAP can, provided they end drama".  Surprisingly, out of the 1,288 respondent 397 just skipped this one question.

Corruption in the system has increased manifold. Two major political parties are instrumental and made life of a common man miserable. More recently, party in power has penetrated in media houses to project biased scenario of national picture. Exploitation of poverty, jatiwaad, muslim community to ensure their seat of power is rampant. Under this scenario, where are we heading. What is the future of the Nation. Delhi masses voted for a change to see change the deteriorating scenario. Their faith and eagerness for change led to 67 out of 70 seats in Delhi. Three cheers for their BOLD step. Delhi is a state but functioning like UT. Assembly decisions with 95% majority are set aside by one man LG. More than 50 % Delhi is controlled by Centre. Even Anti Corruption Branch of Delhi is taken over by Centre. Lok Pal Bill is stalled. Two giant political parties, Influenced (purchased) media, CENTRE, and LG are working against the WILL of the people of Delhi. So-much-so, some of us have started saying that AK is a poor manager within two years. We need to stand by our resolve to bring change in Delhi and stand by our desire and strengthen resolute of AK, to bring change in the corrupt system. Have some of us started our wisdom in less than two years and getting Influenced by the Giants and their Money-power.

All those who are living in comfort will not be very keen--except those who are thinkers of all levels, who are sensitive and kind hearted and are educated in true sense.

All who fear losing their comfortable life have reasons to oppose and criticise AAP.

Poor and downtrodden are and will be in support always.

Unfortunately, a large portion of which are ignorant about the need for a total overhaul of Indian politics. They have not even tasted how democracy tastes. How a real kind of democracy could make a change in their life. They know only--work hard to eat to live and die without even having travelled to next village.

And it is so after 67 years of independence of India. You knw who is to blame?

Media support for BJP! You should be kidding! MSM's hatred for Modi (&BJP),even today, is well evident. Modi won in spite of MSM's opposition. That is the truth. Nobody is worried as things are going correctly and the results would be visible in couple of years.

Arvind Kejriwal came with promise of delivering anarchy. 75% who voted have no share in admn run by BJP, Congress etc. The remaing 25% who voted for AAP is people like me who felt BJP Congress etc are corrupt to the core so to defeat them we voted for AAP. Of course since Arvind Kejriwal and his 66 MLAs cannot make thier constituency like Grrenpark or GK they will make GP and GK another slum called Sunder Nagari with streets filled with over flowing drain. But AAP cannot make Delhi like say failed state like U.P. Bihar Bengal etc

AAP is the most overrated political party in India history.Indian media gives them too much importance. They have achieved absolutely nothing in 3 months in power(49 days before and now another 23 months or so).

Once again Delhi People showed their opportunistic character in choosing AAP rather than BJP. The BJP is corrupt like Congress and certainly has no magic formula that will work to deliver the goods to Indians. But what AAP has? I am not able to understand this.

I feel Kejriwal has uncanny streak for self destruction. The removal of own internal Lokpal was a disastrous decision and shook people's trust & faith. The situaion could have been handeled better & there was lack of communication from Kejriwal on the issue in public domain. We desperately need alternate political party that fights against corruption. Kejriwal indeed created a political revolution but some where there is a major hitch that's always impediment to Good Governance delivery. I feel he needs to mend his ways & really deliver on Governance to remove the disenchantment & make people repose faith once again.
