Kotak Mahindra Bank's Jt MD Designated KVS Manian Quits

Krishnan Venkat Subramanian (KVS Manian), the whole-time director designated joint managing director (Jt MD) of Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd, resigned with immediate effect. In his resignation letter, he says 'for pursuing other opportunities in financial services' that he is exploring. Mr Manian, a member of the group management council, has been with Kotak Mahindra Bank for more than two and half decades and played a pivotal role in the lender's journey from a non-banking finance company (NBFC) to a bank.

In a regulator filing, Kotak Mahindra Bank says, "KVS Manian ceases to be the whole-time director designated joint managing director, with immediate effect on account of his resignation considered, noted and accepted at the above referred Board Meeting. Consequently, Mr Manian ceases to be a director and a key managerial personnel of the Bank."

Mr Manian was looking after corporate, institutional and investment banking, private banking and asset reconstruction business and was responsible for building a high-quality, integrated and profitable franchise across these businesses at Kotak Mahindra Bank.

Before his current role, Mr Manian scripted the retail banking narrative of Kotak Mahindra Bank. He was president of consumer banking - steering the Bank from a single branch to over 600 branches and over 1,000 ATMs nationwide in 10 years. He set up the retail liability business from scratch. He later managed the entire consumer banking business, including consumer asset products like home loans, cards, personal loans, business loans, loans against property, MSME and others, some of which were launched and grown to scale in his tenure.
