  • Strong momentum in Nifty, Sensex – Tuesday closing report
    We had mentioned in Monday’s closing report that Nifty, Sensex were up after latest GDP numbers were published. On Tuesday, the major indices continued to rally. On the NSE, there were 1,380 advances, 428 declines and 314 unchanged. 
     
    The trends of the major indices in the course of Tuesday’s trading are given in the table below:
     
     
    Kotak Mahindra Bank MD, Uday Kotak, agreed to sell stake worth around Rs 6,000 crore to comply with a settlement agreement struck with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in January on promoter stake dilution.
     
    Britannia Industries reported 26.08% year-on-year rise in net profits for the March 2020 quarter, at Rs374.75 crore. Revenues grew 2.99% to Rs2,946.32 crore.
     
    Coal India reported that coal production in May fell 11.3% to 41.43 MT as against 46.69 MT, YoY. Coal offtake stood at 39.95 MT against 52.10 MT, down 23.3%.
     
    Voltas reported a 12.52% increase in its consolidated net profit at Rs 159.50 crore in the March 2020 quarter. Its consolidated net profit was Rs 141.74 crore in the January-March quarter of the last fiscal.
     
    Ratnamani Metals & Tubes received new domestic order for stainless steels tubes of Rs 35 crore and an export order for stainless steel tubes of Rs 22 crore to be completed by January, 2021.
     
    Motherson Sumi Systems reported decline in net profits to Rs183.38 crore for the quarter ended March 2020, compared to Rs270.51 crore in the corresponding period in the previous year.
    Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance bought 40,00,000 shares of NCC at Rs 25.92 per share on NSE.
     
    Tata Motors resumed operations at all its plants along with the Jamshedpur plant also getting approval on May 27, 2020.
     
    Tata Power completed the acquisition of 51% stake in TP Central Odisha Distribution for Rs 178.5 crore.
     
    Strides Pharma has received approval from the US health regulator for its skin ointment. Triamcinolone Acetonide Ointment is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid responsive dermatoses.
     
    TVS Motor reported total sales of 58,906 units in May after resuming operations which were suspended due to nationwide lockdown. Total two-wheeler sales stood at 56,218 units, out of which domestic sales were at 41,067 units last month. Three-wheeler sales stood at 2,688 units in May.

    Nifty, Sensex up on GDP numbers – Monday closing report
    We had mentioned in Friday’s closing report that Nifty, Sensex rallied in anticipation of the economy opening up. On Monday, the major indices clocked major gains. On the NSE, there were 1,488 advances, 324 declines and 331 unchanged.
     
    The trends of the major indices in the course of Monday’s trading are given in the table below:
     
     
    Voltas reported a 12.5% jump in its consolidated March 2020 quarter net profit at Rs 159.5 crore against Rs 141.74 crore in the corresponding year-ago period. The total income for the quarter was up at Rs 2,150.09 crore as compared to Rs 2,120.02 crore in the previous year. The board recommended a dividend of Rs 4 per share.
     
    Biocon received a favourable ruling from US Patent and Trademark Appeal Board (US PTAB). The US Patent and Trademark Appeal Board (PTAB) has ruled in favour of Mylan, Biocon’s partner in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings finding all challenged claims of Sanofi’s Lantus SoloSTAR device patents.
     
    PVR will meet on June 8 to consider and approve audited financial results and to decide on raising funds by way of issue of equity shares of the company.
     
    Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers reported standalone net profit of Rs 142 crore in the March 2020 quarter, 193% higher than the Rs 48 crore it earned in the corresponding quarter in the previous year.
     
    Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services plans to raise up to Rs,3,500 crore through a rights issue.
     
    Amara Raja Batteries reported year-on-year 0.50% increase in net profits to Rs179 crore for the March 2020 quarter. Revenues grew 0.89% YoY to Rs1,581 crore.
    Maruti Suzuki reported total sales of 18,539 units in May 2020.
     
    Andhra Paper reported a 55.12% YoY increase in its net profit to Rs 92.92 crore for the March 2020 quarter. Revenues declined 25.49% to Rs 279.66 crore, against Rs 375.38 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
     
    Jubilant Life Sciences posted consolidated net profit of Rs 260.49 crore in March 2020 compared to net loss of Rs 100.65 crore in Q4 March 2019.
