Thane: Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Tuesday hinted at a relief for LPG consumers in the state, reports PTI.
Addressing a programme in Dombivili town of Thane district, Chavan said the people of the state would soon get a 'good news' regarding the LPG cylinders. However, he did not elaborate further on it.
Earlier, the Centre had asked the Congress-led state governments in the country to raise the subsidised gas cylinders from six to nine for the people.
The chief minister, while expressing concern over the water shortage in the state, said if it continued, the Parli thermal power plant in Beed district would cease to function in the near future.
The storage in Marathwada's Jayakwadi dam is only 3%, he pointed out.
Chavan also said the octroi will be abolished in the state in a phased manner.
He also said the report from the revenue department regarding bifurcation of Thane district was already received and a decision would be taken soon in consultation with the concerned ministers.
