Colgate: A Lesson for Those Blindly Holding ‘Quality’ Stocks
Shareholders of Colgate suffered a sudden shock yesterday, when the stock fell 6%, after the company announced its December quarter results. The microscopic parsing that analysts do revealed that expected volume growth was about 3% whereas Colgate achieved 2.3% volume growth. This too was boosted by price growth of 3%-4%, which led to a revenue growth of 4.3% year-on-year (y-o-y) in Q3FY19-20....
