Cadbury Clarifies Its Products Sold in India Are 100% Vegetarian

Aiming to douse social media claims that Cadbury products contain beef, the chocolate maker clarified that this is not true and that all its products manufactured and sold in India are 100% vegetarian.

In a series of tweets, Mondelez/Cadbury says, "The screenshot shared in the tweet is not related to Mondelez products manufactured in India. All the products manufactured and sold in India are 100% vegetarian. The green dot on the wrapper signifies that."

Last week, Madhu Purnima Kishwar (@madhukishwar) posted a message for Cadbury UK on Twitter saying, "Is this true @CadburyUK? If yes, Cadbury deserves to be sued for forcing Hindus to consume halaal certified beef products. Our ancestors & Gurus sacrificed their lives but didn't accept eating beef. But post 'independence' rulers have allowed our Dharma to be violated with impunity."

The photo shared by Ms Kishwar was a screenshot taken from Cadbury's Australia website, which informed their customers, "...if any of our products contain gelatine in the ingredients, the gelatine we use is halal certified and derived from beef."

While some people reacted angrily over the post blaming the chocolate maker for hurting religious sentiments, a few others say gelatine as mentioned in the tweet by Ms Kishwar is used in pharmaceutical industry across the world for manufacturing capsule shells.

Gelatine is a translucent, colourless, flavourless food ingredient, commonly derived from collagen taken from animal body parts. It is brittle when dry and gummy when moist.
Consumption of gelatine from animals may be forbidden by religious rules or cultural taboos. Partial alternatives to gelatine derived from animals include the seaweed extracts agar and carrageenan, and the plant extracts pectin and konjac.

Muslims worldwide dictate their terms and have manufacturers declare that their products are halal-certified. This is because they all work in unison. The binding force is Islam, their religion which they follow meticulously. We - Hindus - are unable to save our values because of our lax attitude. Muslims and Christians are working vigorously to convert Hindus in India. This has to be resisted with full force and the Indian Govt has to be warned to reverse their minority-appeasement policies, or face defeat at the polls in UP and elsewhere.
