Annual consumer price inflation eased marginally in August to 9.52%

Food prices for consumers eased to an annual 11.06% in August from 11.24% in July 2013, according to data on consumer price index for urban and rural India for August 2013 released by MOSPI
 
The annual consumer price inflation eased marginally in August 2013 to 9.52% in line with expectations from 9.64 in July 2013, government data showed on Thursday. Food prices for consumers also eased to an annual 11.06% in August from 11.24% in July 2013. This is based on consumer price index numbers on base 2010=100 for rural, urban and combined for the month of August, 2013, released by MOSPI (Ministry Of Statistics and Programme Implementation).
 
The General Indices for rural, urban and combined are 135.4, 133.6 and 134.6 respectively. Provisional annual inflation rate based on all India general CPI (Combined) for August 2013 on point to point basis (August 2013 over August 2012)  is  9.52%  as  compared  to  9.64%  (final)  for  the  previous month  of  July 2013. The corresponding provisional inflation rates for rural and urban areas for August 2013 are 8.93% and 10.32% respectively.  Inflation rates (final) for rural  and  urban  areas  for  July  2013  are  9.14%  and  10.18%  respectively.
 
The next date of release of data is 14 October 2013 for September 2013.
