Tata Motors global sales up 21 pc in Dec; JLR flat

Tata Motors Ltd said its global sales increased by 21% in December 2010 to 90,294 units on robust demand for commercial vehicles but sales of luxury brands from Jaguar Land Rover remained flat.

Jaguar Land Rover sales were at 21,353 units during December, up just 1% from the same month in the previous year, Tata Motors said in a statement.

While sales of luxury sedans of Jaguar brand was down by 10% last month at 4,332 units, Land Rover sales was up by 4% at 17,021 units, it added.
Commercial vehicles sales were higher by 29% to 48,168 units from the same month a year ago, it said.

Total passenger vehicle sales stood at 42,126 units in December 2010, up 13% from the corresponding month of the previous year, the company said.

On Friday, Tata Motors ended 4.62% down at Rs1,178 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex closed 1.68% down at 18,860.44 points.

Magma Fincorp Q3 net up 80%

Asset finance company, Magma Fincorp Ltd reported an 80% jump in its net profit for the third quarter at Rs32.3 crore as against Rs17.9 crore a year ago for the corresponding period.

Income from operations saw a 28.4% leap at Rs212 crore as compared to Rs165 crore Y-o-Y.

On Friday, Magma Fincorp ended 1.62% up at Rs62.55 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex closed 1.68% down at 18,860.44 points.

Godrej Properties Q3 net dips 12% to Rs15.5 crore

Realty firm Godrej Properties Ltd reported a 12% dip in consolidated net profit at Rs15.51 crore for the October-December quarter of the current fiscal.

The company had recorded Rs17.63 crore net profit in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, it said in communique to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Income from operations, however, went up to Rs48.17 crore from Rs34.61 crore in the October-December quarter of the 2009-10 fiscal.

Godrej Properties had earned Rs14.97 crore during the quarter by off-loading some stakes in two of its projects to India Realty Excellence Fund and HDFC Portfolio Management Services.

On Friday, Godrej Properties ended 3.83% up at Rs610 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex closed 1.68% down at 18,860.44 points.
