Tile manufacturer Somany Ceramics Ltd said its net profit for the second quarter ended September 2010 rose 16.8% to Rs5.5 crore from Rs4.7 crore in the same period last year.
During the September quarter 2010, its net sales increased 30.5% to Rs162.5 crore from Rs124.6 crore, the company said in a statement.
Speaking on the future outlook of the company, Abhishek Somany, joint managing director, Somany Ceramics said, "We aim to grow more than 25% in the financial year 2010-11 and will invest accordingly for expanding our business operations and upgrading our manufacturing facilities."
On Friday, Somany Ceramics shares ended 3.8% down at Rs274 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex closed 0.5% up at 20,032 points.
UB Group firm United Breweries Ltd reported a whopping 87.1% rise in its net profit at Rs21.9 crore for the second quarter ended September 2010 on robust sales.
The company had reported a net profit of Rs11.7 crore in July-September quarter last fiscal, UBL said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Its total revenues from operations rose to Rs566.9 crore in the September quarter from Rs412.3 crore in the same period previous year.
On Friday, UBL shares gained 0.7% to Rs444 on the BSE, while the benchmark Sensex closed 0.5% up at 20,032 points.
Textile firm Shri Lakshmi Cotsyn Ltd (SLCL) today said its second quarter net profit rose 16% to Rs23.2 crore from Rs20 crore, same period last year.
During the quarter to end-September, its total revenues increased 16.9% to Rs418.6 crore from Rs358.7 crore last year.
"During the three months period we have sold out our value-added bed sheet products. The product has been well received by the market and we now have a backlog of orders," SLCL's chairman and managing director MP Agarwal said.
On Friday, SLCL shares ended 2.9% down at Rs151 on the BSE, while the benchmark Sensex closed 0.5% up at 20,032 points.
