Moser Baer India Ltd said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur to start a research and development (R&D) program in advanced clean energy technologies.
The research will be conducted from IIT Kanpur and Moser Baer will providing funding of Rs25 lakh annually.
On Wednesday, Moser Baer shares rose 0.4% to Rs72 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex increased 2.4% to 20,687 points.
Panasonic Carbon India Co Ltd reported a drop in its standalone net profit for the quarter ended 30 September 2010. During the quarter, the net profit of the company declined 34.8% to Rs1.3 crore from Rs2.1 crore in the same quarter last year.
During the quarter, its net sales declined 22.7% to Rs5.8 crore, while its total revenues fell 24.1% to Rs6.7 crore.
On Wednesday, Panasonic Carbon shares declined 1.4% to Rs163 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex increased 2.4% to 20,687 points.
Calcined petroleum coke manufacturer Goa Carbon Ltd (GCL) said its net profit for the second quarter ended 30 September increased to Rs2.8 crore compared to the loss of Rs5.1 crore in the corresponding period last year.
"In spite of a drop in sales due to lower export, company's profits are back against the net loss in the same quarter last fiscal," Shrinivas Dempo, chairman, GCL, said in a press release.
During the September 2010 quarter, the company's sales decreased to Rs63.1 crore from Rs81.7 crore. Stringent cost control measures as well as improved efficiencies have enabled us to post profits, he said.
On Wednesday, GCL shares ended 3.7% down at Rs107 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex increased 2.4% to 20,687 points.
