Shares of petrochemicals companies advanced 11%, while shares of office equipment companies and glass companies went up by 10% each. Stocks of real estate companies and hotel companies declined 3% and 2%, respectively. Stocks of consumer products companies and energy companies ended flat.
Combined inflation for urban and rural areas declined marginally, to 4.87% in April 2015, from 5.25%% in March. Inflation in urban areas declined to 4.36% in April from 4.75% in March. Food inflation in urban areas declined to 5.41% in April from 6.81% in March. In urban areas, inflation of vegetables declined to 7.84% year-on-year. Inflation related to fuel & power increased to 3.43% from 3.16% in March. Inflation for housing declined marginally to 4.65% in April from 4.77% in March. Inflation for clothing declined to 4.84% from 4.95%; for miscellaneous items, it increased to 2.51% in April from 2.15% in March.
