Shares of textiles companies, printing & publishing companies and pharmaceuticals companies advanced 16% each, while shares of sugar companies and telecom equipment companies rose 12% each. Stocks of software & IT services companies and banks went up by 3% each. Shares of media companies rose 2%, while stocks of building materials companies ended flat.
Combined inflation for urban and rural areas increased marginally, to 5.37% in February 2015, from 5.19% in January. Inflation in rural areas increased marginally to 5.79% in February. Food inflation in rural areas rose to 6.50% in February from 5.86% in January. In rural areas, prices of vegetables increased by 10.43% year-on-year. Inflation related to fuel & power increased to 5.92% from 4.78% in January. Inflation for pulses increased to 8.11% in February from 6.93% in January. Inflation for clothing increased to 7.20% and for miscellaneous items to 3.70% in February from 6.71% and 3.53%, respectively, in January.
