Even Ram Jethmalani Cheated in Land Deal

Former Union law minister and senior Supreme Court lawyer, Ram Jethmalani (91) has complained to the Chennai city police that a real-estate dealer has cheated him of Rs7 crore. Mr Jethmalani, and his two friends in Delhi, had approached a real-estate broker in Nungambakkam whom they had identified through a website. They asked him to show them properties in prime areas in the city. The man collected Rs7 crore from them under the pretext of paying an advance to a landowner, but never got the land registered on their names. Whenever Mr Jethmalani and his friends tried to ask for the money, the dealer would dodge and suggest a few other properties instead. Finally, when they insisted on getting the money back, he vanished.
