L&T-MHI Turbine Generators tests APGENCO’s 800MW turbine generator

The feat was achieved at L&T-MHI’s integrated manufacturing and testing facility at Hazira in Gujarat

Larsen & Toubro's L&T-MHI Turbine Generators Pvt Ltd has assembled and tested the performance of 800MW turbine generator for unit 2 of APGENCO's (Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation) power plant coming up at Krishnapatnam, in Andhra Pradesh.

The feat was achieved at L&T-MHI's integrated manufacturing and testing facility at Hazira in Gujarat. The Hazira test facility established and validated under the technical guidance of Mitshubishi Electrical Company can test generators of up to 1000 MW.   

On Thursday, L&T ended 1.02% down at Rs1,738.85 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex declined 1.21% to 18,209.52.

Eclerx’s Q1 net profit rises 20% to Rs35.2 crore

Eclerx Services operating revenue for the June 2011 quarter stood at Rs99.6 crore compared to Rs77.1 crore in the corresponding period last year

Eclerx Services said that its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended 30 June 2011 was Rs35.2 crore compared to Rs29.3 crore in the corresponding period in the previous year, a growth of 20%.

The company's operating revenue for the June 2011 quarter stood at Rs99.6 crore compared to Rs77.1 crore in the corresponding period last year, a rise of 29%.

During the same period, its basic EPS increased to Rs12.2 from Rs10.3.

On Thursday, Eclerx ended 2.23% down at Rs818.90 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex declined 1.21% to 18,209.52.

SBI Cards offers enhanced credit card security

The EMV technology prevents fraudulent usage due to possible cloning of credit cards

SBI Cards has launched its credit cards with EMV chip security feature. EMV or 'Euro Pay, MasterCard & Visa', is a credit card industry standard that provides customers enhanced security both in India and abroad.

Kadambi Narahari, CEO, SBI Cards, said, "The launch of the EMV chip based cards for over 85% of our new cards will help our customer with greater security features. We will move to EMV for 100% of all new customers and cards within a few weeks."

This latest security technology prevents fraudulent usage due to possible cloning of credit cards. The EMV chip will also enable SBI Cards to roll out more customer centric offers. EMV is also in line with the new RBI guidelines for higher credit card security. Most of SBI Cards' new credit cards will come with an EMV microchip which will store encrypted customer information for unmatched additional security and convenience.
