The Hang Seng and the Shanghai Composite advanced 5% each, while the FTSE ended flat. The Nikkei declined 3%.
Sugar companies were in demand during the fortnight. KM Sugar Mills, Rana Sugars, Uttam Sugar Mills and Simbhaoli Sugars soared 36%, 31%, 29% and 20%, respectively. Bajaj Hindusthan advanced 17%.
Software & IT services companies were punished. Tricom India, Info Edge (India), Tech Mahindra and Intense Technologies declined 11%, 10%, 7% and 6%, respectively. HCL Technologies and Mastek fell 3% each.
