The Bovespa rose 4%, while the S&P 500 and the FTSE inched up 1% each. The Nikkei declined 4%, while the Taiwan Weighted ended flat.
Shares of software and IT services companies were in demand during the fortnight. Spanco soared 20%, while Wipro and Tech Mahindra surged 11% each. Infosys rose 5% and Tata Consultancy Services rose 4%.
Shares of sugar companies were punished. Oudh Sugar Mills tumbled 26%, Ugar Sugar Works tanked 23%, and Shree Renuka Sugars, Rajshree Sugars and Simbhaoli Sugars declined 20% each. EID-Parry (India) declined 18%.
