Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd said its unit Glenmark Generics received abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) to sell Ciotrimazole cream USP 1% in that country.
Clotrimazole is used for the topical treatment of candidiasis due to Candida albicans and tinea versicolor. According to IMS Health, the product achieved annual sales of $26 million for the 12 months ending March 2010, the company said in a release to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
On Thursday, Glenmark shares rose 0.6% to Rs266 on the BSE, while the benchmark Sensex closed 0.2% down at 18,172 points.
Steelmaker JSW Steel Ltd reported a growth of 4% in crude steel production for July 2010 compared a year ago period.
The company's crude steel production increased to 5.2 lakh tons in July from 5.01 lakh tons in same month last year.
During July, its rolled products (flat) production rose 35% to 4.08 lakh tons from 3.03 lakh tons while rolled products (long) production rose 43% to 90,000 tons from 63,000 tons in July 2009, it said in a regulatory filing.
On Thursday, JSW Steel shares gained 0.8% to Rs1,121 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex closed 0.2% down at 18,172 points.
Engineering and construction company Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) said its metallurgical material handling and water operating unit won engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders, worth Rs1,749 crore, from state-run SAIL and BALCO.
The unit along with Italy-based Paul Wurth received Rs1,627 crore EPC contract to build the 2.8 MTPA blast furnace for SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant. L&T's share in the contract is Rs1,010 crore.
L&T in consortium with Outotec of Germany, has won Rs670.73 crore EPC contract to build a 3.7 MTPA sinter plant for SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant. L&T's share in the contract is Rs538.29 crore, said the company in a statement.
In the non-ferrous segment, L&T won an additional order of Rs201 crore from BALCO for capacity expansion of its smelter at Korba.
On Thursday, L&T shares ended 0.2% up at Rs1,809 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the benchmark Sensex closed 0.2% down at 18,172 points.
