Foreigners: Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold heavily during the fortnight and were net sellers for all but one trading day during this period.
Indians: Domestic investors stepped in to cushion the fall triggered by FII sales, ending the fortnight as net buyers of shares worth Rs4,053 crore.
The Taiwan Weighted gained the most (3%) in the fortnight, the Shanghai Composite plunged 6%. The Nasdaq Composite remained flat.
Stocks of software and IT services companies attracted heavy buying. Blue Star Infotech surged 17%, while HCL Technologies (up 10%), KPIT Cummins Infosystems and Polaris Software (up 7% each) also registered gains.
