It is alleged that the BJP leader has merged shops, originally allotted as convenience stores, for his office and connected it to the basement in Shubhda Co-operative Housing Society at Worli in Central Mumbai
Gopinath Munde, deputy leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha is refusing to close his office at Worli in Mumbai despite orders from the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), alleges bureaucrat-turned-activist Abha Singh and Amit Maru.
According to advocate Singh, the BJP leader has merged shops originally allotted as convenience shops and connected it to the basement in Shubhda Co-operative Housing Society.
She said, permission was given to construct 14 convenience shops meant for day-to-day needs like kirana shops, on the ground floor of the society. Permission was also given to construct a basement for parking and for storage.
“However, Mr Munde and other persons merged these shops by removing the walls for converting it into his office. He later connected his office to the basement below, which is not permitted as per law,” Adv Singh claimed.
She said, the BMC sent a notice to Mr Munde, however, the BJP leader and others are not complying with the orders. “It is believed that for the reason of refusal to remove office and other illegal acts, the municipal corporation is now considering strict action of filing an FIR in the matter and to start demolition proceedings. We will also be shortly moving the Environment Department for action under the Environment Protection Act, 1986,” Adv Singh said.
