Shares of non-ferrous metals companies and shares of packaging companies advanced 9% and 5%, respectively. Shares of petrochemicals companies and shares of paper & paper products companies rose 4% each. Stocks of office equipment companies declined 9%.
Combined food inflation increased to 6.31% in December 2015, compared to 6.08% recorded for November 2015. For rural and urban areas, food inflation was 6.57% and 6.05%, respectively, in December. Vegetable prices increased by 4.63% in December compared to those prevailing in November. Inflation in fruit prices was 0.64% in December, while pulses were dearer by 45.92% y-o-y. Inflation for cereals stood at 2.12% and inflation for milk products was 3.94%. Price rise of non-vegetarian items, such as meat and fish, was 6.57% in December compared to 5.34% in November 2015.
