Stocks of airlines companies, printing & publishing companies and hotel companies advanced 20%, 12% and 11%, respectively. Stocks of oil & gas service companies rose 7%. Shares of lifestyle & leisure companies, sugar companies and consumer durables companies fell 3%, 2% and 1%, respectively.
Combined food inflation was 5.34% for October 2015, compared to 4.29% recorded for September 2015. For rural and urban areas, food inflation was 5.36% and 5.41%, respectively, in October. Vegetable prices increased by 2.42% in October compared to those prevailing in October last year. Inflation in fruit prices was 1.98% in October, while pulses were dearer by 42.20% y-o-y. Inflation for cereals stood at 1.46% and inflation for milk products was 4.79%. Price rise of non-vegetarian items, such as meat and fish, was 5.01% in October compared to 5.59% in September 2015.
