Stocks of telecom services companies advanced 10%, while consumer products companies and paints companies rose 6% each. Shares of airlines companies and real estate companies declined 7% each. Shares of trading companies and sugar companies fell 6% and 5%, respectively.
Combined food inflation stood at 7.89% for June 2014, significantly lower from 9.22% recorded for May 2014. For rural and urban areas, food inflation was 8.45% and 6.63%, respectively, in June. Inflation in vegetable prices was lower, at 8.73% in June, compared to 15.20% in May. Inflation in fruit prices was 20.64% in June, while pulses were dearer by 5.17% year-on-year. Inflation for cereals stood at 7.60% and inflation for milk products was 11.06%. The price rise of non-vegetarian items, such as eggs, meat and fish, was 8.27% in June compared to 10.04% in May 2014.
