Alstom Projects India Ltd said it won two contracts, worth about Rs1,267.7 crore, from private utility GVK Industries for building two units at the new Jegurupadu III combined cycle power plant in Andhra Pradesh.
These contracts consist of an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract and an additional long term service agreement. Under the EPC contract, Alstom will design, manufacture, supply, install, test and commission the two units, each consisting of Alstom’s GT26 gas turbine, steam turbine, generator, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), associated civil works and balance of plant equipment.
The two units are expected to be commissioned in 2013, it said in a regulatory filing.
On Friday, Alstom shares gained 8.7% to Rs704 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the Sensex closed 0.1% higher at 18,130 points.
Biotechnology company Biocon Ltd said its first quarter consolidated net profit increased 33% to Rs76.7 crore from Rs57.6 crore recorded in same quarter a year ago.
Its total revenue also increased 33% to Rs672 crore from Rs505 crore last year.
On a standalone basis, Biocon’s first quarter net profit increased to Rs72.3 crore, a rise of 52%, from the Rs47.6 crore in the year ago quarter. Total revenues, including other operating income during the quarter was Rs332.3 crore, a 32% growth, compared to the Rs251.6 crore.
On Friday, Biocon shares fell 3.2% to Rs320 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the Sensex closed 0.1% higher at 18,130 points.
Jet Airways (India) Ltd said it registered a first quarter net profit of Rs3.5 crore compared to the net loss of Rs225.3 crore for the same quarter a year ago.
During the quarter to end-June, the aviation company’s total revenues increased to Rs3,023.2 crore from Rs2,428.4 crore a year ago.
On Friday, Jet Airways shares ended 2.3% down to Rs614 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while the Sensex closed 0.1% higher at 18,130 points.
